Duck Creek Utah is a spectacular place to visit. The community of Duck Creek sits at 8,400 feet just off Utah Scenic Highway 14 on what is commonly known as Cedar Mountain. This area is also known as the Markagunt Plateau and is part of the Dixie National Forest. Close by are a myriad of scenic attractions and areas for a wide range of activities. In the winter the region around Duck Creek Village is a snowmobile Mecca. Visitors also enjoy cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Settled by the Virgin Branch Anasazi and the Parowan Fremont American Indian Tribes as long as 7,000 years ago, the Duck Creek area has remnants of old pueblos and other Indian artifacts. In fact, it's possible to explore many of these sites as you discover this delightful area. Late in the 1700s, exploration by Euro-Americans began. John Wesley Powell surveyed the area in the 1800s. The U.S. Congress created nearby Zion National Park in 1919 and in the 1920s a spur of the Union Pacific reached Cedar City. Tourism began and has continued ever since because of the beauty and magnificence of the area.
